Healthy Heart Foundation addresses cardiovascular disease through a holistic and community-centered approachfocused on prevention, early detection, treatment partnerships, and recovery support.
Prevention & Awareness
We believe that knowledge saves lives. Through public education campaigns, wellness talks, and community outreach, we teach people how to reduce their risk of heart disease through healthy lifestyle choices.
Early Detection
Many people live with heart disease risk factors without knowing it. Our screening initiatives help individuals detect conditions such as hypertension and diabetes early, allowing timely medical intervention.
Youth Engagement
Preventing cardiovascular disease must begin early in life. The Healthy Heart Foundation works
with schools to promote heart health awareness among young people through interactive
education sessions and student engagement programs.
To date, the Foundation has reached 10 schools, introducing students to the importance of
healthy lifestyles, including balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and the avoidance of
alcohol and substance abuse.
A key component of this initiative is the establishment of Cardiac Squad Clubs within participating
schools. These student-led clubs serve as platforms where young people promote healthy habits,
organize physical activity initiatives, and encourage their peers to make positive health choices.
Currently, four Cardiac Squad Clubs are actively operating, providing leadership opportunities
for students while helping to build a culture of wellness within schools.
By nurturing heart-healthy behaviors early in life, the Foundation aims to reduce the long-term risk
of cardiovascular disease and empower young people to become champions of health in their
communities.
Life-Saving Skills
The Foundation trains healthcare workers
and corporate first aid responders in
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)and
basic life support. These life-saving skills
strengthen emergency response capacity
within communities and workplaces.
Treatment Partnerships
For children born with congenital heart conditions, access to surgery can be life-saving but often unaffordable. We collaborate with hospitals, doctors, and partner organisations to help vulnerable children access the care they need.
Post-Surgery Recovery Support
Our commitment does not end with surgery. We provide support for medication, follow-up care, and recovery assistance to help children heal and thrive after treatment.
By addressing the full journey — from prevention to recovery — we aim to create lasting impact for families and communities.
National Alignment
Our work supports the Uganda
National Non-Communicable
Diseases Strategic Plan
(2020–2025), prioritizing
prevention, early detection, and
improved access to treatment in
collaboration with the Ministry
of Health.
Together, we can give more children the gift that every parent hopes for — a healthy heart and a future full of life.
