Cardiac Squad – Healthy Hearts in Schools

Being physically active is one of the most important ways children can build a strong foundation for lifelong health and wellbeing. Unfortunately, many primary school–aged children today do not get enough daily physical activity, placing them at a higher risk of developing heart disease and other non-communicable diseases later in life.

Through the Healthy Heart Foundation’s Cardiac Squad School Program, we encourage children to embrace movement, develop healthy habits, and understand the importance of caring for their hearts from an early age.

One of the exciting activities within the program is our  Rope Skipping for Heart challenge, where pupils participate in fun skipping activities that promote fitness, coordination, and teamwork. As they take part, students also learn important lessons about heart health, healthy lifestyles, and the prevention of cardiovascular disease.

In addition to being active, pupils are encouraged to support the mission of the Healthy Heart Foundation by participating in simple fundraising activities linked to their skipping achievements. These efforts help support children living with heart conditions and contribute to programs that promote heart health awareness across Uganda.

Through Cardiac Squad, young people become Heart Champions—learning that small actions, like staying active and helping others, can make a meaningful difference in protecting hearts and saving lives. ❤️
