Key Achievements (2021-25)

Early detection remains one of the most effective strategies for preventing cardiovascular disease. Hypertension is often called a “silent killer” because many individuals live with the condition for years without symptoms until complications such as stroke or heart failure occur.

Between 2021 and 2025, through its “Know your numbers” / ‘Kuuma Omutima’ Campaign, the Foundation conducted community outreach and screening activities across several public locations, including markets, workplaces, churches, shopping areas, and boda boda stages, on top of attending organised health camps in different communities.

1,590

people screened for biometrics in the “ Know your numbers screening.

503

people screened for hypertension during World Hypertension Day outreach activities.

15

individuals referred for urgent medical care

By bringing screening services into public spaces, the Foundation can reach individuals who might not otherwise visit health facilities for preventive care. These efforts contribute to reducing the number of Ugandans living with undiagnosed hypertension.
National data show that approximately one in four adults in Uganda has elevated blood pressure, highlighting the importance of expanding community-based screening initiatives (Ministry of Health &World Health Organization, 2014).

HHF community Impact

At Healthy Heart Foundation, our work is driven by a simple belief: every life matters, and many heart-related deaths can be prevented with the right knowledge, early diagnosis, and access to care.

Through our programs and partnerships, we are working to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease in Uganda by empowering communities with information and supporting vulnerable patients who need life-saving treatment.

Our impact includes:

  • Raising heart health awareness through community education, corporate wellness programs, schools, churches, and social organisations.
  • Promoting early detection through screening programs that help people identify risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and unhealthy lifestyles.
  • Supporting life-saving heart surgeries for vulnerable children who cannot afford treatment through partnerships with local and international medical institutions.
  • Providing post-surgical support to help children and families navigate recovery with dignity and hope.
  • Mobilising communities and partners to take action in the fight against cardiovascular disease.

Every program we run is designed to save lives today while preventing heart disease for future generations.
